You worked hard and wrote a thoughtful, informative blog post on a timely topic relevant to your readers. Clicked ‘post’, and sat back with a fresh cup of coffee, anticipating all the awesome comments to roll in, ready to engage and respond. You wait. And wait. And … crickets …
The number one complaint I hear from small business owners using blog content to attract interaction is: “how come no one comments on my stuff?” Well, did you ask them to? It sounds obvious, I know, but it does work.
If you want people to respond, ask a question and/or invite them directly to comment at the end of your post. If someone took the time to read your whole post, it means they are engaged with your content and your voice. So, when they see an invitation to comment or read a question at the end of your post, chances are pretty good they will answer it by leaving a comment.
What do you think of this tactic? Have you tried it out yet, and if you have, how well has it worked for you? I’d love to hear your take in the comments 😉
